As CTO of PetroAlgae, Gary is responsible for overseeing the technical direction of the company. His primary responsibilities include establishing scientific strategy, defining technical offerings, establishing and fostering scientific collaborations with universities and technical institutions around the world and ensuring PetroAlgae's technical lead in this fast growing area.
Gary is a recognized expert in the field of algae genetics and brings to PetroAlgae over 30 years of business and technical expertise to this venture.
Gary has been with XL TechGroup since 2005 as a director of the CleanTech practice area where he searches for new opportunities and technologies to fulfil unmet market needs, not only in the CleanTech area but also the MedTech and BioTech focus areas of XL TechGroup. Before joining XL TechGroup, Gary was CEO of a number of companies, ranging from nanotechnology to bioproducts to instrumentation, including BioForce Nanosciences, EraGen Biosciences and NucleoTech Corporation. Gary has also served in senior marketing and operations positions in companies such as Beckman Instruments, Molecular Devices, Qualicon – DuPont and Oxford GlycoSystems. He also served as a founding director of the GAEM Group, a consulting firm to the biotech industry aiding in management resources.
Gary received his B.Sc. from St. Johns (New York), his M.Sc. from State University of New York and his Ph.D from the University of South Carolina. He has published numerous scientific and business related articles.
