Mithu analyzes the patent position of various technologies under review, manages the IP portfolio of XL TechGroup's subsidiary companies, and helps develop and set the strategic direction of the IP position so that it reflects the business goals of the Company. She has been with XL TechGroup since October 2005.
Mithu was previously a patent associate at MannKind Corporation, a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of therapeutic products for diseases such as diabetes and cancer. Her role included patent application drafting, bridging communication between R&D developments and IP expansion, and developing/managing the patent document system within the company.
Mithu completed her doctoral thesis in microbiology at the University of California, Los Angeles. The focus of her work was protein interactions in bacterial peptide signaling. Prior to graduate school, Mithu received her BS in animal physiology & neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego. During this time, she received further laboratory training in microbiology techniques during an internship at the National Institutes of Health as well as working as a technician at LabCorp.
Mithu became a registered US Patent Agent in April 2003.
